You can save a local server-based workshared model as a new central model for file-based worksharing on a local area network.
For example, a company has team members from multiple offices working on the same project and they need to share content. Office A uses server-based worksharing, and Office B uses file-based worksharing. A team member from Office A can save the model from the server as a file-based workshared model to a shared directory where a team member from Office B can access it.
To save a server-based (local or central) model as a file-based central model
- Open the server model or a local copy that has been updated.
- Click File tab
Save As

- In the Save As dialog, specify a file name and directory location for the central model.
When you save the central model, ensure it is saved to a network drive to which all team members have access.
- In the Save As dialog, click Options.
- In the File Save Options dialog, select Make this a Central Model after save.
