Manage Coordination Models

Unload the coordination model

Unload a coordination model to temporarily remove it from the Revit model. For example, you may want to unload the coordination model when you finish an interference check, and you don't want it to be visible in views while you continue to work on the Revit model. Unloading the coordination model can also improve performance.

1. Select the coordination model and click Modify| Coordination Model tab Coordination panel (Manage Links).

   OR

   Click Manage tabManage Project panel (Manage Links).

2. In the Manage Links dialog Coordination Model tab, select the coordination model.
3. To unload the selected model, click Unload.

Reload the coordination model

When you close and re-open the Revit model, the coordination model automatically reloads with updates, if any. To update it without closing the Revit model, use Reload or Reload From.

• If the coordination model is in the same folder, use the Reload button.
• If the coordination model resides in a new location or if you want to reload it using a different edition of the file, use Reload From.

When reloaded, the coordination model retains its position and orientation in relation to the Revit model.

1. Select the coordination model and click Modify| Coordination Model tab Coordination panel (Manage Links).

   OR

   Click Manage tabManage Project panel (Manage Links).

2. In the Manage Links dialog Coordination Model tab, select the coordination model.
3. To reload the selected model, click Reload.

   If the coordination model has been moved to a new folder or you want to reload it using a different edition of the file, click Reload From, and navigate to the target model. To avoid broken links in the future, change its Path Type from Absolute to Relative.

Change the path from absolute to relative

When you link a coordination model to the host Revit model, the dialog displays its absolute path.

Specify a relative path to avoid broken links if you later move the coordination model and its host model to a different location. For more information, see About Directory Paths for Linked Models.

1. In Windows Explorer, make sure that the Revit model and the coordination model reside in the desired locations.

   For example, the models may reside in the same folder, or the coordination model may reside in a subfolder of the host model.

2. Select the coordination model and click Modify| Coordination Model tab Coordination panel (Manage Links).

   OR

   Click Manage tabManage Project panel (Manage Links).

3. In the Manage Links dialog Coordination Model tab, in the Path Type column for the coordination model, select Relative.
   Note: You can change the Path Type value only after linking the coordination model to the host model and saving those changes to the host model. In addition, the coordination model and the host model must reside on the same local or remote root directory (for example, the same disk drive or partition).
4. Click Apply.

Remove the coordination model

To delete the coordination model from the Revit model, use Remove. To restore the coordination model, insert it as a new link.

1. Select the coordination model and click Modify| Coordination Model tab Coordination panel (Manage Links).

   OR

   Click Manage tabManage Project panel (Manage Links).

2. In the Manage Links dialog Coordination Model tab, select the coordination model.
3. Click Remove.
