Curtain Elements

Use curtain element tools to create building facades. You can use curtain walls, curtain grids, mullions, and curtain systems to create the desired look.

About Curtain Walls
A curtain wall is any exterior wall that is attached to the building structure and which does not carry the floor or roof loads of the building.

To create a linear curtain wall, add an architectural wall and select a curtain wall type from the Type Selector.
Create a Non-Linear Curtain Wall
To create a non-rectangular curtain wall, sketch a straight curtain wall and then edit its elevation profile, or join a straight curtain wall to any roof.
Change the Orientation of a Curtain Wall
As you place a curtain element or select one in a plan view, flip controls display.
Embed a Wall into Another Wall
You can embed a wall into another wall, a wall into a curtain wall, or a curtain wall into a wall.
Separate an Embedded Wall from Its Host
If you move or rotate the host wall, the embedded wall moves with it. Separate the embedded wall if you want it to move independently from its host.
Clean a Curtain Wall Join
By default, curtain walls attach to the face of adjoining walls. Use the shape handle to separate a curtain wall join from other curtain walls or exterior and interior walls.
Curtain Grids and Panels
After creating a curtain wall, use grids to divide the wall into panels.
Mullions
Use the grid on a curtain wall to place mullions.
Curtain Wall Instance Properties
Modify instance properties to change an individual curtain wall's base and top constraints, grid pattern, and more.
Curtain Wall Type Properties
Modify type properties to change the function, join condition, grid patterns, and mullions for the curtain wall family.
Type-Driven Curtain Element Layout Instance Properties
Modify instance properties to change the selected curtain element's grid pattern.
Type-Driven Curtain Element Layout Type Properties
Modify type properties to change the construction, grid pattern, and mullions for the family of the selected curtain element.
