Backup codes for two-factor authentication

Important:

This topic is intended for Customers who have not yet migrated to using Autodesk Accounts, or those using Legacy Logins and Passphrases for authentication. For more information on the Migration process, see the Migration Overview Documentation. For more information about two-step verification after migrating to Autodesk Accounts, see this topic.

If you don’t have your phone with you (for whatever reason) and can’t get a code from Google Authenticator ( https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/1066447 ) or Duo Mobile ( https://guide.duo.com/ ) for your Flow Production Tracking site, you can use backup codes to log in.

Basics

Backup codes are available on your Accounts Settings page and were first offered to you at the end of the two-factor authentication set up. These backup codes can be used interchangeably with codes that are generated by the Google Authenticator or Duo Mobile app.

The codes come in sets of 10, and you can generate a new set at any point, automatically making the old set inactive. In addition, after you’ve used a backup code to sign in, it will become inactive.

We recommend you store your codes wherever you keep your other valuable items (like your wallet!). As with the codes on your phone, backup codes are only valuable to someone if they manage to also steal your password.

View and generate backup codes

To create a new set of backup codes:

  1. Log in to your Flow Production Tracking site and go to your Account Settings page.
  2. Click Two-Factor Authentication. For security purposes, you will have to enter your password again here.
  3. Click Show Backup Codes.
  4. If you are fine using the current set of backup codes, you can Print or download them ( Save to Text File ). If you believe this set of codes might have been stolen or you’ve used up your backup codes, you can generate a new set by clicking Generate new codes.
Tip:

If you can’t find the backup codes you downloaded as a text file, search your computer for "flow production tracking_backup_codes_username.txt" with your username. If your username is Flow Production Tracking123, search for "flow production tracking_backup_codes_Flow Production Tracking123.txt."
