Sorry, we could not access the Validation Tool

CONTEXT:

AVT website error.

POSSIBLE CAUSES:

  • The Autodesk Validation Tool is only available for Enterprise level Autodesk Accounts at this time. If available, it will need to be set up by someone with administrative privileges in the Autodesk Account, then the Autodesk Construction Cloud.

    STEPS TO TAKE:

  • Admins can check the account to see if you have access to the tool:*
  1. Log in to the Autodesk Account: https://manage.autodesk.com/
  2. Go to All Products and Services
  3. Look through the list, or use the search function to locate the Validation Tool
  4. If you see the tool, you can assign access by following these instructions: AVT - Assigning Access

If the AVT is not in the Autodesk Account, there are one of two possibilities:

  • Your organization is not an Enterprise Account.
  • Your organization is an Enterprise Account, but access hasn't been granted: In this case, please reach out to your Autodesk Enterprise Account Manager so that they can set up access for you. Then continue with the Validation Tool Setup section of help.

Autodesk Validation Tool Task Has Completed With Errors!

CONTEXT:

Error message for a specific file in the email report.

POSSIBLE CAUSES:

  • There are times when the model cannot be processed in the cloud. Below are some potential issues and solutions.

    STEPS TO TAKE:

  1. Make sure your model check task has the correct Revit version / year selected. If the wrong version is used, it will cause the model check to fail.
  2. The use of 3rd party tools that pull up a dialog box when the model is opened. Detach or remove any 3rd party applications that would require user input upon file open.
  3. A model's extreme complexity or size exceeds the allowable run time of the service. The model or checkset will need to be simplified before it will run successfully in the cloud. Suggested actions include:
  • Opening and run the checkset using the desktop Model Checker for Revit to watch for warning or error popups. Any popup in the desktop Revit may impact AVT’s performance. These messgages should be resolved.
  • Purge unused elements
  • Remove imported CAD files (linking is recommended instead of importing)
  • Remove Duplicate Instances found in the Errors and Warnings dialog box
  • Remove unused Views
  • Remove corrupt families. To test loaded families, save all your families out of your model to a folder on your hard drive or network. If you receive a pop-up while saving the RFA, that family may be problematic.
  • Use a simplifed checkset. Checksets that include the Pre-Built check “Largest Family” or check for duplicate elements can take a significant amount of time. Note that the Best Practices checksets have both of these checks. Called “Loadable Families” and “Duplicate Modeled Elements”, if you make a copy of the Best Practices checkset and remove these checks, you may find significant increases in the success of your AVT check runs.

  • If you are setting up a new Task and you cannot find your project listed in the Model Explorer or your project does not appear in the dropdown menu, this error is caused by the Validation Tool serice not being added your hub.

    STEPS TO TAKE:

  1. Contact your project administrator to have the Autodesk Validation Tool service connected to your project's Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360 Docs hub.
