Create Circuit Board CAD Model in Autodesk SimStudio Tools

Learn a basic CAD model creation workflow using Autodesk SimStudio Tools. This application is provided as an added benefit to customers, and it is installed automatically during the installation of Simulation Mechanical.

Using SimStudio Tools, we will construct a circuit board assembly to use in the following subsequent tutorials:

If you chose not to install the SimStudio Tools application, a completed CAD model is included within the tutorial models archive. This model can be used as the input file for the subsequent meshing tutorial.

Alternatively, you could try to build an identical model in a different CAD package, using the commands and workflow appropriate for that program. When instructed to transfer the SimStudio Tools file into Simulation Mechanical, transfer the model from your CAD program instead (assuming direct transfer is supported). Otherwise, output the model to any of the universal or proprietary CAD formats supported by Simulation Mechanical. Then, select the appropriate file type choice in the Open dialog box of Simulation Mechanical and open the model file. From this point forward, the procedure is the same regardless of the CAD format.
