Exercise 6: Import a 3D Model Into a Style Catalog

    Import a 3D model from another application into a style catalog.

  1. Click to open the Style Palette.
  2. Click the 3D Model tab.
  3. Double-click the catalog for this model.

    For example, if you are adding a model of a tree, click the Vegetation catalog.

  4. Add a new style in this catalog.

    Click at the bottom of the Catalog Editing window.

  5. Double-click New 3D Model.

    An entry with this name appears each time you add a new style.

  6. Specify the 3D model file.

    Click the browse button next to the Model URI field and select the model file.

  7. To adjust the 3D model, use the options in the New 3D Model dialog box.

    For example, to change the model's size, change the settings for the third row in the table. The preview area shows you the results of your changes.

  8. Click OK to import the model with the new settings.
  9. To give the 3D model a name you will remember, click and enter a new name.

    When you press Enter, the model is alphabetized by its new name.
