Graphically illustrates assembly hierarchy. Shows and hides selected components, filters, and arranges contents, manages access to component and relationship editing, and provides alternate access to functions from the context menu. Controls assembly feature roll back and participation of components in each feature.
Access
In an assembly file, click item to select, and then right-click to display context menu.
- Browser filters
- Located on the browser toolbar. In both Assembly and Modeling views filters are available to reduce the volume of information presented in the browser. Click to select a filter or clear a check mark to turn off a filter.
- Hide UCS
- Affects the display of all UCS objects.
- Hide Work Features
- Affects display of all Origin and global work features. Feature-level work features display when a feature is expanded.
- Show Children Only
- Affects display of all parent-level assemblies. This option is not available when the Part environment is active (when you edit or create a part in place).
- Hide Notes
- Affects the display of notes created with the Engineer's Notebook.
- Hide Documents
- Turns inserted documents off or on.
- Hide Warnings
- Turns warning symbols attached to relationships in the browser off or on. It does not hide failures.
- Show Extended Names
- Displays detailed information about part features.
- Representations
- Located on the browser toolbar. Provides access to assembly representations. Click to define or retrieve a representation.
Context menu options perform actions on contents of the representations folder.

- Located on the browser toolbar. Select Assembly or Modeling view from the browser view menu to set a preference for the browser configuration.
- Assembly
- Assembly relationship symbols are placed in a folder at the top of the browser tree and nested below both related components. Part features are hidden.
- Modeling
- Assembly relationship symbols are placed in a folder at the top of the browser tree but are not nested below the related components. Part features are nested below parts, just as they are in a part file.
- Find
- Opens the Find dialog box to search for specific objects in all Autodesk Inventor file types. You can refine searches by including more criteria, such as and/or operators, properties, conditions, and values. You can specify the location you want to search in.
Find is useful when you want to locate sick relationships, suppressed components or features, sketch parameter names or values, or references, as well as any other combination of criteria you select.
Context menu options
The context menu (right-click) presents operations on the selected component, feature, or relationship in the browser. Depending on the browser configuration and the selected item, some or all options may be available.
The context menu options, plus viewing options, are available when you right-click an item in the graphics window or in the browser.
