Import Files dialog box

Creates and edits a task that converts non-Inventor files.

Convers files such as DWG, STEP, IGES, SAT, DXF, and JT. It also converts files from Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, Parasolid, Alias, CATIA V4, and CATIA V5 into Autodesk Inventor files.

Access:
 
  • In the Autodesk Inventor Task Scheduler main menu, click Create Task Import Files .
  • In the Autodesk Inventor Task Scheduler window, right-click, and select Create Task Import Files.

Project

Specifies the active project.

Add Files

Provides a browser where you can select files from the active project to add to the task.

Add Folder

Provides the Browse for Folder dialog box where you can browse to and select folders to add to the task.

 

Delete

Deletes selections from the list of added files and folders.

 

Recursive

Indicates whether to include subfolders in the selection.

 

Input Folder

Specifies the folder from which to import files.

 

Input File Name

If you add a folder, specifies the input file name or file extension. The default output file name is the input file name with the extension of the target file format. You can change the input file type only if you select a folder. Click this cell to display an arrow. Click the arrow for a list of available file types.

 

Output Folder

Specifies the folder into which files are imported. The default output folder name is the input folder name. You can change the output folder. Click this cell to display the browse command. Display the Browse for Folder dialog box if a folder is added, or click the Save As dialog box if a file is added.

 

Output File Name

If a file is added, specifies the output file name. A Click this cell to display the browse command. Click Browse to display the Save As dialog box. Specify a new output file type or name.

If a folder is added, specifies the format for files within output folders. Click this cell to display an arrow. Click the arrow for a list of available file types to select.

Task Name

Automatically assigns a name to the task.

 

Frequency

Specifies how often to execute the task. Not available if the Immediately option is selected.

 

Time Out

Specifies the maximum time a task can run before it is terminated.

 

Immediately

Select to run a task immediately when you click OK. When you select Immediately, Frequency, Start Time, and Start Date are not available.

 

Start Time

Specifies a time to start the task. Not available if the Immediately option is selected.

 

Start Date

Specifies a date to start the task. Not available if the Immediately option is selected.

 

Log File

Specifies whether this task is logged. If the option is selected, specifies the log file folder name. Use the default name and location, or browse to a different existing folder. If a specified log file does not exist in the selected folder, it is created.

Overrides the log file specified in the Task Scheduler window in Settings Options Log File Options.

Add time stamp to log file

Select to:

  • Add a time stamp to the log file
  • Create a log file each time you run a task.
  • If you schedule a task for a later time, the log file name is displayed in the Log File edit box. The report window shows a placeholder without a hyperlink, since the log file is not created until you run the task,

When not selected, the behavior of the hyperlink remains unchanged.

Options

Opens the dialog box with options for the particular file type selected in the Import Files dialog box.
