Create custom libraries for your specialized purposes.
You can place materials and appearances into the same library.
On the ribbon, click Tools tab Material and Appearance panel Material . The Material Browser displays.
In the Material Browser toolbar, click Create New Library.
Browse to the folder where you plan to save the new library, and specify a library name.
Click Save. In the Material Browser, lower section, the library is visible in the Library list.
Decide whether to organize your library using categories. To create a category:
In the lower left pane, click the new library.
In the Material Browser toolbar, click Create Category.
Name the category.
Select the source library that contains content for your custom library. The contents display in a list on the right.
Drag and drop all materials and appearances from the source library into your custom library. You can drop materials on category or library nodes.
Note: You will be notified when attempting to add a material to a library with a material name that already exists in the library and have the option to keep both or replace.
Close the Material Browser.
Note: To migrate a previous release library and populate it with new materials, see Migrating Inventor Legacy Material and Color Styles. After migration, open the Material Browser, select the Inventor Material Library, and go to previous steps 6 and 7.
