The parts list is automatically populated with information from the assembly drawing. Information is categorized based on the assembly, subassembly, and part. If available, the part number, description, and quantity is added to the list.
The parts list is associated to the drawing and to the bill of materials (BOM) so that when you change the drawing, the BOM and the parts list is automatically updated. Making changes in the parts list does not update the BOM except in one situation: changes to the item numbers are updated in the drawing and the BOM. Custom parts are manually added to the parts list only and have no associativity to the BOM or drawing.
Balloons are included in the associativity. When a balloon is changed, the background for the associated entry in the parts list turns yellow. Use the update functions in the Parts List dialog box to maintain consistency in the balloons and parts list items.
