This option defines loads acting on structure bar elements originating from planar loads applied to a particular plane. To open the Object Load dialog, click Loads menu > Special Loads > Bar Loads from 3D Objects.
This option is useful for determining the following:
- Loads on ceiling beam elements caused by a load distributed over a slab
- Loads on structure elements caused by wind acting on a curtain wall
- Loads on structure elements from the self-weight of a roof or wall cover.
The top of the dialog displays information about the currently selected load case (number and name of the active case). You define a load value and parameters by:
- Specifying the load distribution, by defining the value of the load intensity in the px, py or pz fields (a unit of a planar load is: force / length*length).
- Specifying the load direction in the global or local coordinate system.
A plane to which a load is applied is defined by specifying the number of the surface object (face) in the Surface - Face field. This field also has 2 buttons:
- Define: Opens the Polyline-contour dialog. When theFaceoption is selected, it ensures that there is a simultaneous surface definition on the contour
- Directions: Opens the Local System Orientation dialog, which modifies the panel local direction.
The manner of load distribution depends on the type of cladding defined on a loaded surface. (Clicking Cladding types opens the Load Distribution dialog).
