Use the thin client to search the vault.
Note: Vault Workgroup requires a Vault Office license to use the thin client. Vault Professional provides read-only access through the thin client by default. A Vault Office license is required for read-write access.
Basic Search
Basic search finds only objects in the current context. If you are in Project Explorer, a basic search locates only files in the current folder and, optionally, subfolders. If you are in Item Master, a basic search locates only items.
- Type a search string in the Search text box and then press Enter.
Advanced Find
Use Advanced Find to create more complicated searches with multiple search criteria. Advanced Find can look for all object types.
- Click Search Options Advanced Find.
- In the Advanced Find dialog, select the search context:
- Vault: look for files and items (if available)
- Project Explorer: look for files only
- Item Master: look for items only (if available)
The default context is the one in which you are currently working.
- A search criteria consists of a property, a condition, and a value. Specify a search criteria.
- Click Add Search Criteria to add criteria as needed.
- Click Remove Search Criteria to delete a search criteria.
- Click Search.
The objects matching the search criteria are displayed on the Search Results page. The search results remain until another advanced search is performed. You can also perform a basic search on the results.
Search File Content
The content of files can be searched by changing the search settings on the Thin Client Options page.
Note: Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS) Content Indexing Service must be enabled in the ADMS Console. See the ADMS Console help for more information.
The Active Content Search feature is disabled by default.
Enable Search File Content
- Go to the account menu Settings
- In the Search Settings section, turn on Search file content.
- Click Done.
