On the Job Preferences dialog, you can define a group dimension line, which lets you create dimension lines for several structure elements included in a structure plan or view.
When you modify certain elements (such as openings) or change their overall dimensions, the changes are instantly reflected in the relevant dimension chains.
- Add division point to dimension line
- Delete division point from dimension line

The Definition tab
- Total dimension - select this to add the total dimension of a structure element to the dimension lines
- Characteristic points of a building - select this to add dimensions between characteristic points of objects (for example, indentation in a wall or beginning/end of a wall)
- Adjoining elements - select this to automatically dimension elements that adjoin the main element. Use this option primarily with elements that adjoin walls:
o Columns
o Walls
o Beams
o Columns included in the wall
- Opening dimension - to axis - select this to add dimensions between characteristic points of an object and opening axes. A description of a dimension line depends on the parameters specified on the Openings tab
- Opening dimension - to face - select this to add dimensions between characteristic points of an object and faces (edges) of openings. A description of a dimension line depends on the parameters specified on the Openings tab.
Use the options on this tab to define the group dimension lines of objects of a building:
The Openings tab
- Opening width
- Opening height
- Sill height (only for window openings)
Use the options on this tab to determine a method of describing a dimension line for openings (opening dimension - to face). The description of an opening dimension line may consist of:
- Select the appropriate dimension components
- Specify a location of the description (the upper edit field will position the description above the dimension line, whereas the lower one will position the description below the line)
- Click the arrow
to update the edit fields with the selected dimension component data.
The description of an opening dimension line may be placed in 1 line (above the dimension line) or in 2 lines (above and below the dimension line). To determine the method of describing a dimension line:
