To import DWG data

Import two-dimensional line data with level from AutoCAD files. You can not import blocks. Only the geometry is imported.

Note: You can take advantage of enhanced data exchange between AutoCAD Civil 3D and InfraWorks when linking to a Civil 3D DWG file as a data source for your model. See About Exchanging Data with AutoCAD Civil 3D and To add AutoCAD Civil 3D data to an InfraWorks Model.

To import DWG data from other applications:

1. Follow the general import instructions.
2. On the Data Source Configuration screen, on the Common tab, specify the type of data represented by the DWG geometry.
3. Map the DWG properties to the attributes that appear when you specify the type.

   You can indicate that lineweight represents a particular attribute, such as pipe size. You can also indicate the level of the lines (if applicable) by mapping to an attribute or using an expression.

   You can not map a rule directly to an AutoCAD line property. Instead, use a style rule. For example, if you map the Type attribute to lineweight or colour, you can then specify a style that maps to lines of a particular lineweight or colour. See To define style rules.

4. On the Geo Location tab, specify a co-ordinate system.

   AutoCAD data is not georeferenced, so you must provide the proper co-ordinate system.

5. On the Source tab, specify how to drape the data and whether to convert closed polylines to polygons.

   You'll generally get better results if you select Convert Closed Polylines to Polygons.
