The 3ds Max Help (this document) gives you information about every aspect of 3ds Max.
Typically, each topic contains an overview discussion with a path annotation that shows how to access the feature in 3ds Max, and followed by a "Procedures" section with steps for using a command or feature, and an “Interface” section detailing controls and parameters for the user interface.
- Path Annotation: Gives one or more sequences of steps indicating how to access the feature in the user interface. Note: Autodesk 3ds Max 2015 has two different menu systems: Standard (the default) and Enhanced (optional). For commands that are available in either or both, the path annotation includes a prefix indicating which menu system it uses. See Menu Bar.
- Topic Overview: Provides the name of the feature, command, user-interface control, or concept, and gives a description.
- Procedures: Contains steps for tasks that illustrate the typical use of the feature.
- Interface: Describes the controls for this feature as they appear in the user interface, with a description of their behaviors and settings.
Finding New Features
New features are indicated in this help by the "New" icon shown at the beginning of this paragraph. This makes it easy to see what's new in 3ds Max as you use the help.
The "Updated" icon indicates a change to an existing feature.
You can also search for information about new or changed features. For topics that describe new program features, search for "new feature". For changes in existing features, search for "changed feature".

Screen shots in this document typically show user interface colors that are easy to read. Other color sets for the user interface are available. You can choose them, or create your own, using the Colors tab on the Customize User Interface dialog.
