Isolate Tool

The Isolate tool temporarily hides all objects except those you're working on.

Isolating a selection guards against selecting other objects while working on a single selection. You can focus on the objects you need to see without the visual distraction of the surroundings. It also reduces the performance overhead that can come from displaying other objects in the viewports.

Interface

While the Isolate tool is active, the Isolate Selection Toggle button on the status bar appears pressed in: . To exit Isolate Selection mode, click this button or apply the command using any other method detailed at the start of this topic.

When using the Enhanced menu system, the following commands are available from the Isolate panel of the Scene menu:

Isolate Selection
Hides all unselected objects, with an optional Zoom Extents operation (see following). To restore the scene, use End Isolate.
Tip: To isolate a subset of an isolated selection containing multiple objects, select the subset and then invoke Isolate Selection again.
Isolate Unselected
Hides all selected objects, with an optional Zoom Extents operation (see following). To restore the scene, use End Isolate.
End Isolate
Restores all objects hidden with Isolate Selection or Isolate Unselected. Also unzooms the view if Zoom Extents On Isolate was on when you used the Isolate function.
Zoom Extents On Isolate
When on, automatically performs a Zoom Extents action on the isolated objects when using either Isolate function. The zoom happens in Perspective and axonometric views only, not in Camera views.

When you exit Isolate Selection mode, the viewport returns to the previous zoom level.
