Stiffeners - Step by Step

  1. Create the stiffener from the Global database Stiffeners from the Fittings menu option > Specification header.
  2. Create a new Stiffener by selecting the New icon.
  3. Specify the type of stiffener whether it be Internal or External on the End or Center of the duct.

If External, specify whether to apply additional adjustments on the long and short sides or whether Long Side only stiffening is to be used.

  4. Based on the above selection, add breakpoints for each of the varient stiffener quantities or scenarios by selecting Breakpoints at the bottom left of the dialogue when editing the Stiffener.
  5. If Internally stiffening, Length and Span breakpoints are required to be configured which dictates the quantity and type of tie rods to be used .

If externally stiffened, specifying the ancillary types to be used on the External breakpoint dialogue are required. This will ensure costs are calculated based on the entries made for each dimension breakpoint.

  6. When the Stiffener creation is completed, the stiffener can be directly applied to the duct or by using a specification to automatically assign at takeoff. Please read our Specifications on how to assign stiffeners to a Specification.
