You can search for information in the MAXScript Online Reference by browsing the hierarchical Table of Contents in the Contents tab, locate topics and functions by typing the first letters of the required name in the Index tab, or search the complete document using the Search tab.
All these search methods assume that you are familiar with the logic of the Table Of Contents hierarchy, know the exact name of the function or topic you are looking for, or that the search keywords you enter actually match words in the document.
Obviously, navigating the MAXScript Reference can be difficult for new and even for experienced users.
To simplify the access to the most often used topics, a set of Quick Navigation index pages and associated Quick Navigation links have been developed. These pages provide compressed lists of links to related topics. A blue "wind rose" icon will appear to the left of the link to denote the jump to such a page.
For example, to see the topics related to the MAXScript Editor, you can click on the link below:
Each Quick Navigation page also contains a link accompanied by a magenta "wind rose" icon. This link can be used to navigate back to the Quick Navigation Main Index hub page showing all currently available Quick Navigation topics:
In addition, some longer pages that would require a lot of scrolling to access all sub-sections provide local Topic Navigation indices at the top of the page, with green "wind rose" icons and links for quick returning to the top of the page from various parts of the topic. For an example, see the topic Vertex Methods (meshop struct) .
The following additional Topics Index pages are meant to provide FAST access to information related to specific often-used areas of MAXScript. They are similar to the Table Of Contents to a certain extent, but are much easier to browse and provide additional comments describing briefly the linked topics.
