Circuit Properties

Change the gravity orientation as well as the calculation method for minor losses.

Access
  • Click the Circuit name in the Browser, and then click Properties.

Name

Enter a new name for the circuit.

Gravity

The gravity vector is required to calculate elevation differences in the network, as they can have a significant impact on the flow.

Enter the Gravity vector in the X,Y, and Z values.

Tip: Alternatively, click Gravity in the View ribbon, and then drag the yellow arrow in the widget to specify the gravity direction.

Minor Losses

Minor losses depend on various factors such as sudden changes in the pipe diameter, bending angles, or valves.

Select one of the following calculation methods:
  • Calculate except when K factor specified (Default) If this option is selected and no k factor has been supplied, the minor losses are calculated automatically. If k factors have been supplied, Dalton uses them to calculate the minor losses.
  • Don't calculate (use specified K factors) If this option is selected, the provided k factors are used to calculate minor losses.
  • Calculate & add them to the specified values If this option is selected, minor losses are calculated and added to the specified k factors.
