When you assign an action to a file in the Copy Design Grid, the action displays in the Action column. Refer to the following table for actions that can be assigned to a file.
Status |
Details |
---|---|
Auto |
The drawing linked to the file receives the same action as the associated file. For example, if a file is marked for copy and the associated drawing is marked as Auto, the drawing receives the same new file name and save location as the associated file when the copy operation completes. See Drawing View for information on changing a drawing from Auto to another copy action. |
Copy |
A copy of the file will be created. When the copy operation completes, the copied file is placed in the same folder as the source file. If a Copy To action is assigned, the copied file is placed in the specified folder instead. Tip: After using the Copy To command to assign a destination folder, hover your mouse over the folder
![]() See the Copy Design Walkthrough for more information. |
Copy Branch |
Applies the copy action to the file and the entire file structure beneath it. When the copy operation completes, the copied files are placed in the same folder as the source files. |
Edit |
Indicates that a parent source file is impacted by the copy event. This impact is usually because children files will be created or removed when the copy operation completes. This feedback is automatic. |
Exclude |
The file is ignored during the copy operation. No copy is created and the file is not used in the destination structure. Note: If you don't want to create a copy of the file but still want to use it as part of the destination structure, see the Reuse action.
See Exclude or more information. |
Remove |
The attachment is removed from the destination file. This action is only available for Attachments. |
Replace |
Replaces the selected file with another file. The name of the copied file changes to the replacement file's name. Note: The pending copy of a file can be used as a replacement.
See Replace for more information. |
Reuse |
The file will be reused without creating a copy. This is a great way to minimize duplicates of a file that must be used in more than one location of a design. Note: If a file is changed to Reuse, the parent file also changes to Reuse.
See Reuse or more information. |
Reuse Branch |
Applies the reuse action to the selected file and the entire file structure beneath it. The specified files are reused in the destination structure and no copies are created. Note: If a file is changed to Reuse, the parent file also changes to Reuse.
