Thin Client - Manage Files

Add files, check out files, check in files, and undo checked out files using the Autodesk Vault thin client.

Note: Vault Thin Client functionality is based on your Vault edition and whether you have a Vault Office license.

Download a File

Files can be downloaded using the thin client without a Vault Office license.

  1. In Project Explorer, locate the file you want to download.
  2. From the Action menu, click Download.
  3. If prompted by your browser, select a download location to save the file.

Check Out Files

Files can be checked out from a vault using the thin client so long as you are logged in with read-write access.

  1. Locate the file you want to check out.
  2. From the Action menu, select Check Out.
  3. Click Download to retrieve the checked out file from the vault.

Check In Files

Files can be checked into a vault using the thin client so long as you are logged in with read-write access.

  1. In the thin client, locate the file to check in.
  2. From the Action menu, select Check In.
  3. In the Open dialog, locate the checked out file and then Open.

Undo Check Out

  1. In the thin client, locate the file to undo the check out for. Undoing the check out means that changes made to the file will not be uploaded to the vault.
  2. From the Action menu, select Undo Check Out.

Add Files to a Vault

Files can be added to the vault using the thin client so long as you are logged in with read-write access. While both non-CAD and CAD files can be added, relationships are not maintained for CAD files added through the thin client.

  1. In Project Explorer, open the folder to which you want to add the file. Files can only be added through the project explorer.
  2. Click Add File.
  3. In the Open dialog, locate the file to add to the vault, then click Open.

Update Visualization File

Visualization files can be updated so that the latest DWF of a CAD file is available. When a visualization file is updated, the job is sent to the job server for processing.
Note: The Update Visualization file command is only available if the job server is enabled and turned on.
  1. Locate the file for which you want to update the visualization file.
  2. Click on the file to show the file details.
  3. Click the Update Visualization icon to send the job to the job processor.
