Automatically generate item watermarks based on an item's lifecycle state, a specified item property, or customized text. In addition, administrators can configure the watermark style and position.
Note: Items are available in Autodesk Vault Professional.
Important: The Configure Item Watermark workflow differs, depending on whether you are using
Vault 2015 or
Vault 2015 R2. Refer to the section for your release for more information.
Configure Item Watermarks (Vault 2015)
Important: Enable Visualization Watermarking must be turned on in the Vault Settings dialog box on the
Items tab for watermarks to appear on DWF files.
Configure Item Lifecycle State Watermark
Note: The default watermarks are based on the system life cycle names. If you customize the display name for a life cycle state, then you should also change the default watermark.
- Click Tools
Administration
Vault Settings.
- In the Vault Settings dialog box, select the Items tab.
- In the Visualization Watermarking section, click Configure.
- In the Customize Watermarks dialog, select one Item Lifecycle watermark.
- In the Customize Watermarks dialog box, select a lifecycle state to edit the corresponding watermark.
- Click the ellipses (...) in the Watermark Text column to open the Watermark Text Entry dialog and edit the text of the watermark.
- Perform one of the following steps:
- Click OK to close the Watermark Text Entry dialog.
- On the Customize Watermarks dialog, select a location for the watermark from the Location drop down list. The watermark can be placed:
- Diagonally
- Horizontally
- In the border
- Select a font for the watermark from the Font drop down list.
- Select a color for the watermark from the Color drop down list.
- Select a size for the watermark from the Size drop down list.
- Click OK.
Configure Property-Based Watermark
- Click Tools

Vault Settings.
- In the Vault Settings dialog box, select the Items tab.
- In the Visualization Watermarking section, click Configure.
- In the Configure Watermarks dialog, select the Configure Property-Based watermark option.
- Select a property from which to draw the text for the watermark from the Property-based watermark drop-down list.
- Click Configure next to Property-based watermark to open the Property-based Watermark Settings dialog.
- Select a location for the watermark from the Location drop-down list. The watermark can be placed:
- Diagonally
- Horizontally
- In the border
- Select a font for the watermark from the Font drop down list.
- Select a color for the watermark from the Color drop down list.
- Select a size for the watermark from the Size drop down list.
- Click OK.
Configure a Custom Watermark
- Click Tools

Vault Settings.
- In the Vault Settings dialog box, select the Items tab.
- In the Visualization Watermarking section, click Configure.
- In the Configure Watermarks dialog, select the Custom watermark option.
- In the Configure Watermarks dialog, enter the text for the watermark in the Custom watermark field.
- Click Configure next to Custom watermark to open the Custom Watermark Settings dialog.
- Select a location for the watermark from the Location drop-down list. The watermark can be placed:
- Diagonally
- Horizontally
- In the border
- Select a font for the watermark from the Font drop down list.
- Select a color for the watermark from the Color drop down list.
- Select a size for the watermark from the Size drop down list.
- Click OK.

Configure Item Lifecycle State Watermark

- In the Visualization Watermarking section, select Lifecycle-based from the drop-down menu and click Configure.
- In the Lifecycle Watermarks dialog, select the lifecycle that you want to use for the state-based watermarks.
Note: Vault 2015 R2 comes with an out-of-the-box lifecycle called Item Release Process.
- Select a lifecycle state for which you want to edit the watermark.
- Click the ellipses (...) in the Watermark Text column to open the Watermark Text Entry dialog and edit the text of the watermark.
- Perform one of the following steps:
- Click OK to close the Watermark Text Entry dialog.
- On the Customize Watermarks dialog, select a location for the watermark from the Location drop down list. The watermark can be placed:
- Diagonally
- Horizontally
- In the Border
- Select a font for the watermark from the Font drop down list.
- Select a color for the watermark from the Color drop down list.
- Select a size for the watermark from the Size drop down list.
- Click OK.
Configure Property-Based Watermark
- Click Tools

- In the Visualization Watermarking section, select Property-based from the drop-down menu and click Configure.
- On the Property-based dialog, select a property from which to draw the text for the watermark from the Property-based watermark drop-down list.
- Select a location for the watermark from the Location drop-down list. The watermark can be placed:
- Diagonally
- Horizontally
- In the border
- Select a font for the watermark from the Font drop down list.
- Select a color for the watermark from the Color drop down list.
- Select a size for the watermark from the Size drop down list.
- Click OK.
Configure a Custom Watermark
- Click Tools

- In the Vault Settings dialog box, select the Items tab.
- In the Visualization Watermarking section, select Custom from the drop-down menu and click Configure.
- On the Configure Watermarks dialog, enter the text for the watermark in the Text field.
- Select a location for the watermark from the Location drop-down list. The watermark can be placed:
- Diagonally
- Horizontally
- In the border
- Select a font for the watermark from the Font drop down list.
- Select a color for the watermark from the Color drop down list.
- Select a size for the watermark from the Size drop down list.
- Click OK.
