Use the options provided on the Steps tab to define parameters of stair steps.
If Insert steps is not selected, steps will not be generated. In order to generate steps, select Insert steps.
For Type, select either User part or Bent plate.
Define parameters for steps as user parts:
- Select a step database and a family of stair elements - families available on the selection list are those defined in the Family manager dialog. To add a family to the list, click
. The Family manager dialog displays, where you can select a family.
- Select a step profile.
- Determine dimensions of a selected step type.
Define parameters for steps as a bent plate:
- Select a type of the bent plate:

- Select a plate thickness and a connection plate thickness.
- Families available on the selection list are those defined in the Family Manager dialog. To add a family to the list, click
. The Family manager dialog displays, where you can select a family.
- For the connection type, select either Bolted or Welded.
- Determine dimensions of a selected step type.
Under Bolts, specify the bolt diameter and grade. Click Settings to display the Bolt settings dialog.
