To demonstrate the different element deletion criteria available for woven composites, we will examine this biaxial cruciform specimen made from DMS2288-epoxy, a plain weave material available in the Helius PFA materials database. The cruciform geometry and mesh have already been defined as shown below.
The geometry has been partitioned to help create a more uniform mesh. The mesh is composed entirely of C3D8R elements.
The cruciform specimen has already been set up with materials, boundary conditions, loads, and output requests. Since many of the model creation steps were covered in the Unidirectional Large-Notch tension model, we will jump straight to the Element Deletion section for the biaxial cruciform and explore the options available for woven materials.
