The following new features are available in the Autodesk Fabrication 2016 products (Autodesk® Fabrication CADmep™,
Autodesk® Fabrication ESTmep™, and
Autodesk® Fabrication CAMduct™):
-
Autodesk Fabrication API: The Autodesk Fabrication API is now available in all Autodesk Fabrication 2016 products (CADmep, ESTmep & CAMduct). This provides the following capabilities:
- Create Fabrication Addins in any .NET language (C#, VB.NET & C++ cli)
- Object-level access to Fabrication jobs and databases
- Read & write access to Fabrication items and associated properties (such as Specifications, Connectors, Statuses, and more)
- Read & write access to Fabrication job information and associated properties (such as Job Name, Job Ref, Customer, and more)
- Full read access to Fabrication database and associated properties (such as Materials, Specifications, and Costing Info)
- Limited write access to Fabrication database. Currently supported: Custom Data, Item Statuses, and Costing/Labor information.
- New Approach to ITM Content: The Autodesk Fabrication products now provide a comprehensive sample dataset of manufacturer-specific content, and a sample dataset of generic content that can be used by companies to more quickly build libraries of ITM content that satisfy specific business needs or project requirements. The provided datasets are fully unlocked, meaning that content can be duplicated and edited to match the specific details of another manufacturer. See
Understanding ITM Content.
- Connector Domain Type Setting: You can assign a Domain Type to connectors. Patterns can restrict and obey the Domain Type setting on HVAC, pipework, and electrical containment items/systems. See
Connectors.
- Insulation Specification Enhancements: To improve interoperability with Revit MEP, you can restrict the ability to assign Inside Insulation to some domains on electrical containment and pipework items/systems. See
Insulation Specifications.
- Hanger Pattern Enhancements: You can stretch rods to different lengths. Insulation Shield graphics have been added.
- Calculated Dimensions: You can add mathematical functions to calculated dimensions. See
Adding Functions to Calculated Dimensions.
- Database Import and Export: To improve ease of use, the Database Import and Export dialogs have been consolidated to support import and export of single or multiple database areas to a file.
-
Design Line Template: To improve efficiency and reduce setup, you can use Design Line templates across services. See
Design Line Templates.
- Service and Service Template Deletion: To improve efficiency and reduce setup, a new user interface allows you to delete multiple services and templates simultaneously. See
Deleting Services or Service Templates.
- Zoom Controls: To improve ease of use, zoom controls now respect the selected model extents. For more information, see
Common Drawing Commands.
The following new features are specific to
Fabrication CADmep 2016:
- Enhanced Item Folders View:
To improve the access to and display of fabrication items, you can orient the Item Folders view vertically or horizontally. Right-click the Item Folders view and select Show Vertically or Show Horizontally to toggle this view. See
Item Folders.
The following new features are specific to
Fabrication CAMduct 2016
-
Custom (User Defined) Machine Configurations: You can create custom (user-defined) machine code (NC) for defining installed machine fabrication (motion path and cutting) behavior. See
Installing a Custom NC Machine.
- Multiple Decoiler Support: You can configure multiple decoiler setups in the same database. Click File
Setup
Installed Decoiler. See
Decoilers.
