When you sketch a design road, the default design speed is determined by the road type that you specify. Four types of design roads are available.

When you add a design road, the design speed property determines which set of criteria to use for parameters such as minimum and maximum radius, spiral length, and tangent length. While drawing the new design road, you can change the default speed using the toolbar that appears. After a design road has been added, you can modify its horizontal and vertical geometry, as well as various road properties, but not the design speed.
