To change model properties

Open the Model Properties dialog box to change model settings. You cannot change the model database coordinate system after initial set-up.

  1. Open the desired model.
  2. Click .
  3. In the Model Properties dialog box, set the following:
    • Name — The name that is assigned to the model database file and data folder.
    • Description — Displayed with the properties of the open model.
    • Coordinate Systems — By default, InfraWorks 360 will assign LL84 (which uses meters to measure elevation, and Latitude and Longitude to measure X and Y) as the User and Database coordinate systems when you create a new model manually or create a model using Model Builder.
      • Database: You cannot change the model database coordinate system after creating a model. You cannot change the Database Coordinate System for models created by the Model Builder. You can only change the database coordinate system for models that you create manually in InfraWorks 360.
      • UCS: The UCS determines the coordinates displayed in the status bar, and displays elevation in meters by default. You can set the UCS to any coordinate system at any time without affecting how data is stored or displayed. You can also set unit configuration options for the UCS at anytime.
    • Extents — By default, model extents are set to the boundaries of the database coordinate system for your model. If you do not explicitly define a model extent as you import additional data sources the model extent will grow to include the extent of all imported data sources, which can increase disk space requirements for the model and may reduce performance if imported data sources have a larger extent than the base model. To define a smaller area (which saves space and improves performance), deselect Use Entire Model. Define the model extents interactively by drawing a bounding box or polygon in the model itself, or specify the X, Y extent coordinates.
      • The minimum X-coordinate will set the furthest western boundary.
      • The maximum X-coordinate will set the furthest eastern boundary.
      • The minimum Y-coordinate will set the furthest southern boundary.
      • The maximum Y-coordinate will set the furthest northern boundary.

After you have defined the model extent for your base model, you can choose"Clip to model extent" for most feature classes during configuration. Double click on a data source in the Data Sources panel and choose Clip to Model Extent from the Source tab. This will limit the extent of imported data to the model extent.

Leave Clip to Model Extent unselected if you have not defined a specific Model Extent.

    • Terrain — Set the default style for terrain in this model. Click the browse button and open the Land Cover folder to select a style.

The default terrain style affects only areas where no specific coverage or terrain texture is applied. If an applied coverage or terrain is transparent, the default terrain does not appear underneath. However, if you delete a coverage or terrain texture, the default terrain material will be applied.

Note: When you change the default terrain material, the entire terrain surface is regenerated.
    • Set Model Time — Displays only the assets whose creation and termination date range indicates that they exist during the specified time. To display all assets, regardless of their creation/termination dates, leave Use Model Time unselected.
    • Road Design Standards — Defines the horizontal and vertical geometric elements of design roads in your model. You can also specify the default driving direction of design roads in your model (left or right side of the road). See To set road design standards for more information.
  4. Click OK.
