To import CityGML data

Import CityGML data to add it to the current model. A CityGML model can contain multiple data types. Make sure to import all CityGML data types.

  1. Click .
  2. On the Data Sources panel, do the following:
    • Click (Add File Data Source).
    • Click CityGML.
    • Open the model file.

Autodesk InfraWorks 360 supports .CITYGML, .GML and .XML files.

  3. If the Choose Data Sources dialog box displays, select the data to import.

A CityGML file can contain multiple data types.

  4. In the Data Sources panel, select the imported data.

To set common properties for all CityGML data types, hold down the Shift or Ctrl key and select all the CityGML data sources.

  5. Click (Configure Data Source).
  6. In the Data Source Configuration dialog box, do the following:
    • On the Common tab, map properties from the data source to the Name and Description.

If you selected a single data type, specify the Type and any type-specific properties.

    • On the CityGML tab, specify the Level Of Detail for the selected data sources. For more information, see Control Level of Detail.
    • To change the coordinate system, origin, offset, scale, or rotation for the data, click the Geo Location tab.

Generally, InfraWorks 360 can position the incoming data automatically, based on the data itself.

    • Click Close & Refresh to apply your changes and see the results in the model.

Advanced Tips

By default, each imported CityGML object uses the model/geometry/representation associated with it in its data file. To use an InfraWorks 360 style instead, use the Properties palette to change the Model Visible attribute to False. Then apply the style.

If you change the coordinate system, make sure to specify the coordinate system of the incoming data (not the coordinate system of the model). If the imported data uses a different coordinate system than your model uses, InfraWorks 360 will transform the data to the model's coordinate system, without changing the original data store.
