Configurable Folders for a Revit Installation

During installation, you can specify destination folders for different types of Revit content.

These locations correspond to settings on the File Locations tab of the Options dialog in Revit, and settings in the DirectoriesXXX section of Revit.ini. Users can change these default locations after installation, if desired.

The Configurable option is available as follows:

In either case, click the arrow under Autodesk Revit Content Libraries to see the Configurable option.

Note: When creating a deployment, if you specify a custom Revit.ini file in the Customize Application Settings section, and the file defines paths in the DirectoriesXXX section, then the Configurable option is disabled.

For each item listed in the Configurable table, click in the Mode column and choose one of the following settings:

Mode Description
Default Content is installed in default locations on the computer. If you uninstall the software, the content is removed from default locations.
Local Content is installed in a specified location on the computer. If you uninstall the software, the content is removed from local locations.

After selecting Local, click in the Path column, and click the Browse button. Navigate to the desired folder path, and click OK.

To append a relevant subdirectory name to the specified path, click Append.

Shared Content is installed in a specified network location. If you uninstall the software, the content is not removed because it is being shared with multiple users.

After selecting Shared, click in the Path column, and click the Browse button. Navigate to the desired network location, and click OK.

Note: If you specify a mapped drive for a deployment, client workstations must map identical paths, or the deployment will fail.

To append a relevant subdirectory name to the specified path, click Append.
