Select the Discipline for a Revit Installation

You can install the software to provide tools and analyses for a particular discipline.

Note: The ability to select a discipline does not apply to Revit Structure or Revit LT.

If you do not select a discipline, the default is as follows:

• Autodesk Revit: All
• Revit Architecture: Architectural
• Revit MEP: Mechanical

After installing Autodesk Revit, you can use the Options dialog in to control access to tools and analyses.

The Select Discipline option is available as follows:

• During a stand-alone installation, on the Install > Configure Installation page
• When creating a deployment, on the Create Deployment > Configure page

If you are creating a deployment, you can select a discipline for the deployment. The discipline you choose applies to every instance of the product installed from the deployment. After the deployment is created, the discipline can be changed only by modifying the deployment. Consult with the BIM manager to determine which discipline to select for the deployment.

Note: When creating a deployment, if you specify a custom Revit.ini file in the Customize Application Settings section, and the file defines the DisciplineOption setting, then the Select Discipline option is disabled.

The following table lists the disciplines available for Autodesk Revit. For Revit Architecture and Revit MEP, choose from the available disciplines; some of the disciplines listed are not available for those products.

Select the discipline that provides the required tools and analyses. The Tools and Analyses values listed in the table correspond to the options available on the User Interface tab of the Options dialog in Revit. In addition, the appropriate project templates are installed for each discipline.
