When creating a deployment to install Revit on target computers, you can configure the user interface for each group of users based on discipline (such as architecture or structural engineering) and other settings.
During deployment creation, use one of the following methods:
- To specify the user discipline only, use the Discipline option when creating a deployment.
- To specify the user discipline and other user settings, prepare a custom Revit.ini file. When creating a deployment, specify this custom Revit.ini file using the Customize Application Settings option.
Depending on the number of planned Revit installations, you may want to create a separate deployment for each unique combination of user disciplines, user settings, and other deployment requirements. By planning deployments carefully before you create and implement them, you can streamline the process and reduce work.
Important: When creating deployments for a new software release, do not use a Revit.ini file from a previous release. The new release may require additional Revit.ini settings, which may not be defined in the file from the previous release. Missing settings may interfere with the proper functioning of the software. Instead, use the new software release to define options from the user interface. This process generates a new Revit.ini file that you can use with the deployment.
