What's New in V2017 (June 2016)

New Features and Enhancements

  1. Autodesk Nastran - Helius PFA is now supported for use with Autodesk Nastran (continuous fiber materials only).
  2. Assemblies - Advanced Material Exchange now supports the use of structural assemblies.
  3. Weld-Surfaces - Advanced Material Exchange now supports the mapping of weld surface results. This includes the ability to calculate the strength reduction factor for each point on the weld surface.
  4. Compressive Material Response - Advanced Material Exchange now supports a compressive material response. This includes the load drop commonly displayed in the compressive response of short-fiber filled materials.
  5. Improved Microstructure for Woven Composites - The microstructure for satin woven composite materials in Helius PFA has been improved. This allows for faster material characterization and eliminates the dependency on using Abaqus to characterize the satin weave materials.
  6. Multi-Layer Material Characterization - Advanced Material Exchange now includes a new default Multi-Layer material characterization routine to capture the through-thickness variation in fiber orientation tensors.
  7. MCT Rupture Criterion - Advanced Material Exchange now includes a new default MCT rupture criterion for short fiber-filled materials.
  8. Cohesive Element Deletion - Helius PFA now supports cohesive element deletion in Abaqus 2016.
  9. Simplified Chinese - Helius PFA is now supported for Simplified Chinese.

Supported Platforms - Helius PFA

Helius PFA supports the following platforms:

Windows 7, 8, 10 RHEL 5, 6*
64-bit 64-bit 64-bit Clusters
Abaqus
ANSYS
Autodesk Nastran

* Customers have had success using SLES 11.

Refer to the System Requirements for a list of specific FEA versions supported by Helius PFA.

Supported Platforms - Advanced Material Exchange

Advanced Material Exchange supports the following platforms:

Windows 7, 8, 10 RHEL 5, 6*
64-bit 64-bit 64-bit Clusters
Abaqus
ANSYS

* Customers have had success using SLES 11.

Note: The Advanced Material Exchange user interface is only supported on Windows. Both Windows and Linux can be used to run the analysis.

Refer to the Working with Moldflow and Working with Abaqus and ANSYS topics for a complete list of requirements, including supported elements.
