In this task you first select the material to use for this application and then enter the process settings that are characteristic of a compression molding process.
- Ensure the study from the previous task is open.
- Click
() to open the
Select Material dialog.
- Click the
Manufacturer drop-down list.
- Scroll through the list until you find
Rogers.
- In the
Trade name drop-down list select the material
RX630.
- In the Select Material dialog, click
OK.
- Click
(). And enter the following parameters:
- Page 1:
- Mold surface temperature:
177 ºC.
- Melt temperature:
107 ºC.
- Page 2: (Settings unique to thermoset materials, this page is not present in the process of thermoplastics)
- Melt initial conversion:
0.
- Curing time:
60 s.
- %Air mass:
0 %.
- Preconditioning analysis:
Perform preconditioning analysis.
- Page 3:
- Compression direction:
-Z.
- Pure compression press open distance option:
Automatic.
- Press compression time:
10 s.
- Press speed cap:
1000 mm/s.
- Press compression force cap:
150 tonne.
- Distance, row 1:
0.1 mm /Press compression speed 5 mm/s.
- Distance, row 2:
10 mm /Press compression speed 5 mm/s. The Press compression speed vs distance (compression is along z-axis) allows you to set the incremental distances for which the compression press moves. In each increment, the press moves at a constant speed. For each increment, enter the distance and speed.
- Switch to
press force control: by % nodes filled at 99 %.
- Compression force after switch to press force control: Relative to the value at switch over.
- Select
Finish.
