Dividing faces to specify the burn region

In Electrode you can divide the face of a solid to specify the burn region you want to make an electrode for.

To divide a face:

  1. Select the burn region. The area is highlighted:

  2. Divide the solid face to remove a portion from the burn region.
  3. Exclude the portion as required when selecting the burn region:

You can also divide multiple faces by selecting a composite curve before selecting a face to divide. All the faces in contact with the composite curve are divided in one operation.

  1. Choose an appropriate model, where you have more than one face that you wish to divide.

  2. Sketch a composite curve to define where to divide the faces. The composite curve can run along lines and curves within the tolerance of the solid as well as along surface curves.

  3. Click Wizard tab > Electrode panel > Create.
  4. Click Divide Face to display the Divide Face in Solid dialog.
  5. Click the Select Curve button.
  6. Select the composite curve.

  7. Click OK. The Divide Face in Solid dialog is closed. Move the mouse across the model. You will see that the surfaces have been divided using the composite curve.

  8. Continue using the Electrode wizard.
