Materials

This section of the modifier file enables you to switch the material used in the study. The material used for a specific overmolding shot can also be modified.

The material change option is implemented inside studymod using the following format:

<Material Location="######" ID="###" Shot="#" />

The various arguments are described in the table below.

Attention: Make sure that the type of material you plan to switch to matches the type of material inside the study you are modifying. You can only substitute thermoplastic materials with thermoplastic materials, or thermoset materials with thermoset materials.

Arguments

Name Value Description
ID "XXXX ..."

The ID attribute identifies the replacement material. This value is found on the Description tab of the Material dialog.

Location "XXXX.udb"

The Location attribute is the file name for the material database with, udb extension. It can also be the path name in which studymod will search for the material database holding the material ID.

This option is used when the database is stored in the same folder as the modifier file, or the full pathway to the database is defined.

If the material can be found within the system/ user database repository, there is no need to specify a location specified.

Shot "1" or "2"

This attribute is only relevant to the overmolding process. When this attribute is omitted, the default is "1". For an overmolding process, select 1 for the first overmolding shot, and 2 for the second overmolding shot.

The simplest format to change material requires only the ID attribute. However, since StudyMod looks for the material inside the existing User/System database locations, this format is only available on a Windows-based platform with a compatible version of Autodesk Moldflow Synergy - User Interface installed.

Note: <Material ID="###">, as the only attribute, can only be used on a Windows-based machine with a compatible version of Autodesk Moldflow Synergy - User Interface installed.
