Create New Checks

In this example, we create a rule that checks if all the text used in the project documentation is using a designated text font.

Working Example

Select Manage BIM Standards from the Model Review drop-down.
Open the "Firm Standards - Minimal" check file.
Under the Menu pulldown along the top go to: Check>> Add>> Standards>>Parameter Requirements.
The rule will be highlighted in the list, starting with the Basic Info tab we will rename the rule.
- In the Name Section enter: Text Font - Example
- Set the Category to the desired grouping: Firm Standards
- Make sure the following items are checked:
  - Enabled - Checked
  - Report Only - Unchecked
  - Allow Correction - Unchecked
  - Interactive Mode - Checked
  - Batch - Checked
Switch to the Details tabs. Instead of manually selecting and filling in the information use the "Pick Element" option. Doing so will prompt you with a message box stating "Pick an element to retrieve it by its Type and Parameters" choose OK. Now select a piece of text that has the settings you want to capture.
Once your text element has been selected a new dialogue box will be shown with Parameter Details. This list of information allows you to isolate the type of property you want to test for.
- Scroll down the list until you find the text font listed (Internal Name:TEXT_FONT) pick the appropriate Parameter and choose Select.
- Back in the Details tab all the fields should now be pre-filled with this information. Make any adjustments needed (ex. verify the font(s)).
The other tabs allow further details. Ex. In the Fail Message tab you can adjust this to give more detail indicating what the standard font style should be to help the end user better understand why this failed or violated your office/project standard.
Under the File Pulldown, Save the Check File.
Now you are ready to test your rule by running the Check.
