Use the Colors tab of the Modify DWG/DXF Export Setup dialog to specify how colors are exported to DWG or DXF files.
- Click File tab Export Options
(Export Setups DWG/DXF). Select the setup to modify. Click the Colors tab.
For
Export colors as, select one of the following values:
-
Index color (255 Colors). For colors that are set by category, the indexed colors specified on the Layers tab of the Modify DWG/DXF Export Setup dialog will be used. When colors are not set by category and the override is preserved in the export,
Revit uses the closest match from the 255 indexed colors and thus may not provide an exact match for RGB and Pantone® colors.
-
Specified in object styles (True Color - RGB Values). Uses the RGB value from
Revit for the ByLayer and ByEntity parameters. For example, when you export room (or space) color fills, the colors in the exported file exactly match those in the original file.
- Specified in view (True Color - RGB values). Use the RGB value from the assigned material colors of the object surface patterns. This option displays colors more true to those seen in the
Revit view.
Note: If you are exporting a view that contains a linked project and the RVT Link Display Settings dialog (Basics tab) for the link is set to By Host View, then the link is treated as an override. To ensure that colors and other graphic display settings are preserved in the exported file, on the Modify DWG/DXF Export Setup dialog (Layers tab), select "Export all properties BYLAYER, but do not export overrides." See
Layers for DWG/DXF Export.
