Summary

The active drafting standard controls the section line naming convention, arrowhead properties, and the end and bend line properties.

List of Prompts

The following prompts are displayed.

Select point

Defines the start point of the section line.

Next section line point

Draws a section line segment.

Half
Adds a line segment to the end of the last section and jumps to the Name option. This added line segment is perpendicular and equal in length to the first segment of the section line. You typically use this option to create a section line to show the cutting plane for half sections.
Arc
Adds an arc segment to the section line.
  • Center point of arc - Defines an arc segment using the start point, center, and end point.
  • Second point - Defines an arc segment using 3 points that the arc passes through.
Name
Specifies the cutting-plane symbols to name the section line.
  • First section symbol - Specifies the cutting-plane symbol for the first point of the section line.
  • Next section symbol - Specifies the cutting-plane symbol for the next vertex of the section line. AutoCAD Mechanical toolset displays this prompt only if the Use continuous naming check box in the Section View Settings dialog box is selected.
  • Side of section - Specifies the direction of the section arrows.
  • Origin of section view - Specify where to insert the section view label.
Center

Creates a section line for an aligned section view of a cylindrical object.

Center point
Specifies the center of the cylindrical object you are creating the section line for.

Visibility

Controls the appearance of different components of the section line.

Arrow
Toggles the visibility of arrowheads on the section line. The prompt that AutoCAD Mechanical toolset displays after you select this option tells you what the new visibility state is.
Line
Specifies how plane lines (the section line segment between the end portion and bends) should be drawn.
  • Betweenplanes - Draws plane lines using the line type and line weight assigned to the Section/Viewing Plane Line object (PHANTOM2 by default) in the Objects Property Settings dialog box.
  • Continuous - Draws plane lines using the same line type and line weight as the ends and bends.
  • None - Does not draw any plane lines.
Name
Toggles the visibility of labels on the section line and section view. The prompt that AutoCAD Mechanical toolset displays after you select this option tells you what the new visibility state is.
Planenames
Toggles the visibility of cutting-plane symbols on the bends (vertices) of the section line. The prompt that AutoCAD Mechanical toolset displays after you select this option tells you what the new visibility state is.
