About Chamfer Creation Tools (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

AutoCAD Mechanical toolset provides the AMCHAM2D command to chamfer corners. The corners can be formed by lines, polylines, xlines, and ray objects.

Just like its AutoCAD counterpart (the CHAMFER command), AMCHAM2D can extend or trim non parallel lines to connect with a beveled edge. Both commands allow for creating chamfers by specifying the chamfer distances and distance angle methods. However, there are some things that AMCHAM2D can do that CHAMFER cannot. For example:

When you use the AMCHAM2D command you can access the chamfer creation options from the ribbon. The Chamfer Options ribbon contextual panel appends itself to the current tab as soon as you start the command. If required, you can turn off the ribbon by setting the AMCHAM2DTAB system variable to 0. When the contextual panel is not displayed you specify the chamfer options using the Chamfer dialog box. You access this dialog box with the Setup command line option (AMCHAM2D command).

The AMRECTANG command can optionally create rectangles with chamfered corners. The chamfer lengths default to the last used chamfer lengths by the AMCHAM2D command or AMRECTANG command.
