Machine Utilization

Analyze how each machine is being used within its defined limits.

At the end of this exercise, you will have the following information about your drawing:

Open the Files and Settings

  1. Open AutoCAD.
  2. Navigate to FDU Tutorials > Chapter 2 > Material Flow Analysis_Complete.dwg.

  1. On the Factory ribbon > Material Flow panel > Transportation option, select the Machine option to activate the Machine Utilization Meters.

  1. Right click the KWH meter and select Indicators > Utilization Settings from the context menu.

Note: The values displayed may differ depending on your selection.

Add a Meter to the Dashboard for Specific Operations

  1. Hover the cursor above callout 4 (Planing Station) until the meter displays.
  2. Right click and select Optimization > Add Meter to Dashboard from the context menu.

  1. Repeat step 2 for callout 2 (Machining Line).

Adjust the Properties of the Planing Station Operation

  1. In the Material Flow Browser > Routings tab, select Planing Station.

  1. To update the processing time for the Planing Station, go to the Factory Properties > Material Flow Object tab > Properties > section Processing Time and enter 24.

  1. Review the results of the change. Notice how the percentage of use value decreased and the callout for this operation turned from red to green.

Adjust the Properties of the Panel Machining Operation

  1. In the Material Flow Browser > Routings tab, select Operation 3: Panel Machining.

  1. To update the Processing Time for this machine go to the Factory Properties > Material Flow Object tab > Properties section > Processing Time and enter 25.

  1. Review the results of the change. Notice that the percentage of the use value decreased and the callout fro this operation turned from red to green.

  1. Repeat the previous steps, adding meters for the remaining operations and adjusting the processing time to acceptable levels.
