This section is a brief summary of the main MotionBuilder interface. Numbered headings below refer to the numbered interface elements in the figure.
The menus contain both tools and actions for working in your scene. The main menu is that the top of the MotionBuilder window. See Main menus.
The View menu contains options that define how you view your scene. The Display menu lets you define which assets to display in the Viewer window and how to display them. See View menu and Display menu.
The Viewer window offers different ways of viewing the objects in your scene with a camera view. Viewer window are also the workspace where you c an select and transform objects and view the playback of your animations.
You can display one or several Viewer window, which can be docked or floating windows in the MotionBuilder interface. There are a number of way that you configure the Viewer panel to suit your workflow, such as dividing the view into panels and setting different orthographic views.

These controls let you move the current camera around in the Viewer. See Camera navigation controls.
The camera view display toolbar contains tools let you measure distances in the camera view, display the trajectories of animated objects, and refresh the camera view. See Camera view toolbar.
The Viewer toolbar enables you to choose how you want to select, manipulate, and transform objects in the Viewer window. Only one instance of the View toolbar appears in the in the MotionBuilder window at one time. This toolbar is not duplicated when you add Viewer windows. See Viewer window toolbar.
The Character Controls window lets you perform multiple character setup tasks, such as defining a skeleton, or characterizing, and assigning animation to control rigs. See Character Controls.
The Transport Controls window lets you create and select takes, play and view the time progression of a scene, set timing, play, and view options, change the start and end of a take, select and view audio tracks on the Action timeline, and manipulate visual keyframes. See Transport Controls.
The Navigator organizes access to a number of scene, asset, and animation settings and controls related to your current scene. It includes the following windows:
The Keyframe Controls window provides options for creating and editing the keyframes you use to animate your characters. See Key Controls window.
The Animation Layer editor lets you manipulate animation layers and change the way they blend together to create your result animation. See Animation Layer editor.
The Resources window provides access to the properties and channels of the elements in your scene, controls for creating and editing poses, an asset browser for elements you can add to your scene, and options to create groups and sets. See Resources window
