Use Generative Design with Dynamo open: You can now select Revit elements, generate studies, and create Revit elements without having to close Dynamo or Dynamo Player.
Release 22.3.10
File path input nodes: The Define Study dialog now allows you to browse and select a file from the Generative Design user interface. As a result, when creating a study, you no longer need to select a file using Dynamo.
Export outcomes: You can now export data from a generative design study, saving it in a CSV file. This data can include generated outcomes, filtered outcomes, discarded outcomes, and their thumbnail images. Use the CSV file with tools such as Microsoft® Excel, Microsoft® Power BI, and Glueviz to manipulate the data and create different types of visualizations. Share the exported outcomes with others. See Export Outcomes.
Outcome thumbnails: For each outcome, Generative Design stores a thumbnail image of the model and displays it (instead of a live 3D view) on the Explore Outcomes dialog. This improvement improves performance, allowing you to see more than ten outcomes at a time and helping existing studies to load more quickly. You can find and use these images to share with your team in discussions to arrive at the optimal solution.
Include file dependencies: When editing a study type in
Dynamo, you can include file dependencies using the Generative Design Tools panel 
Study Type tab. This option copies any files referenced by an input node in the graph into the Dependencies folder for that study, making it easier to share the study type with others.
Easily open a study type in
Dynamo: From the Create Study dialog, move the cursor over a study type description to see the new
icon. Click it to open the study type in
Dynamo, so you can examine its details or modify the way it works. For example, if you try to run a study but it generates no outcomes, you may want to check its logic to see if adjustments are required. See
Update a Study Type.
Resize Create Study and Define Study dialogs: The Create Study and Define Study dialogs are now responsive, allowing you to resize them to your preference.
Updated sample study types: The sample study types are updated to reflect the following improvements:
- In the Define Study dialog for the Randomize Object Placement study type, for some inputs you can now choose a value from a drop-down list instead of selecting a corresponding element from the model.
- In the Define Study dialog for the Three Box Massing study type, some inputs are now cleared to demonstrate the use of constant input sliders. Select a box to make an input variable, and clear a box to select a constant value from the slider.
Help links: In addition to context-sensitive help links at the bottom of some dialogs, you can now access
Generative Design online help using the
button in the upper right corner of each dialog, including the Create Study dialog, the Define Study dialog, and the Explore Outcomes dialog. Once there, explore the concepts, workflows, tasks, and videos for

Release 22.0.23
Integrates all 2021 updates. With the 2022 release, all improvements from the 2021 Generative Design updates are integrated into Revit. Generative Design is automatically updated as part of the Revit installation. For a summary of the improvements, see Generative Design (What's New in 2022). Release notes for Generative Design Release 22.0.23
- Fixed an issue where study type file names that contained apostrophes (single quotes) were converted to omit them. This issue primarily affected French sample study types. Study type file names can now contain apostrophes.
- Fixed an issue where the Define Study dialog goes blank after you change the generation method and then press Escape. This issue no longer occurs.
- Fixed an issue where the image for a study type (from a selected folder) displayed on the Create Study dialog in Generative Design in Revit did not update correctly after the image was changed using Dynamo for Revit. The study type image now updates correctly.
