About Reinforcement

Use reinforcing tools to add reinforcement elements, such as rebar, reinforcing bars, or fabric, to valid hosts, such as a concrete beam, column, structural floor, or foundation.

When a valid host element is selected, the reinforcement tools are available on the Reinforcement panel on the Structure tab or the Modify tab.

A valid reinforcement host consists of a valid family which has a Material for Model Behavior parameter of either Concrete or Precast Concrete. Walls, floors, and slab edges can be valid hosts as long as they contain a concrete layer and have their Structural Usage instance property set to something other than non-structural.

Valid hosts include the following families:

Concrete parts created from surface elements such as walls and floors possess rebar cover and can host rebar, rebar sets, area reinforcement, path reinforcement, and fabric reinforcement.

Note: You can enable Generic Model elements to host reinforcement. Open the element in the Family Editor. On the Properties palette, select Can Host Rebar in the Structural section. Reload the family into your project.
