Precast Area Reinforcement Type Definitions for Slabs

Specify the area reinforcement types for your precast slab assemblies.

Click Edit on any of the Area Reinforcement types listed on the Reinforcement Types page of the Configuration dialog. The opened dialog displays the name of the slab reinforcement type.

Precast Area Reinforcement Layers

The tabs on this dialog represent layers in the area reinforcement type for solid slabs and girder slabs.
  • Click to remove the currently active layer from the type.
  • Click to add a new layer to the type.
Name Description
Reinforcement Type Specifies the type of the reinforcement layer. Either Steel Bars, Mesh, or Truss (Girder Slab only). Layer specific parameters are displayed below.
Position Specifies the position of the layer. Either Top or Bottom.
Cover Offset Specifies the offset of the reinforcement from the rebar cover of the host.

Steel Bar Layer Parameters

Name Description
Convert to Custom Fabric Sheet Creates a Custom Fabric Sheet considering the input and verifying the constructability rules.
Note: The Custom Fabric Sheet will still be generated, regardless of its incompliance with constructability rules, but a warning message will be displayed, informing about the incompatibility cause.
Rebar Area Inside
Rebar Type Specifies the internally positioned rebar standard size type.
Number Only available when selected. Places a specific number of internally positioned rebar to fill the host.
Distance Only available when selected. Places internally positioned rebar spaced a specific distance apart to fill the host.
Max. Distance Only available when selected. Places internally positioned rebar spaced a maximum distance apart to fill the host based on the distance between the first and last bars.
Bar Direction Either Transverse or Longitudinal. Specifies the orientation of the internally positioned rebar in the host.
Distribution Offset Start Specifies the offset from the first internally positioned rebar to the surface of the host.
Distribution Offset End Specifies the offset from the last internally positioned rebar to the surface of the host.
Bar Length Offset Start Specifies the offset from the beginning of the internally positioned rebar to the surface of the host.
Bar Length Offset End Specifies the offset from the end of the internally positioned rebar to the surface of the host.
Rebar Area Outside
Rebar Type Specifies the externally positioned rebar standard size type.
Number Only available when selected. Places a specific number of externally positioned rebar to fill the host.
Distance Only available when selected. Places externally positioned rebar spaced a specific distance apart to fill the host.
Max. Distance Only available when selected. Places externally positioned rebar spaced a maximum distance apart to fill the host based on the distance between the first and last bars.
Bar Direction Either Transverse or Longitudinal. Specifies the orientation of the externally positioned rebar in the host.
Bar Length Offset Start Specifies the offset from the beginning of the externally positioned rebar to the surface of the host.
Bar Length Offset End Specifies the offset from the end of the externally positioned rebar to the surface of the host.
Distribution Offset Start Specifies the offset from the first externally positioned rebar to the surface of the host.
Distribution Offset End Specifies the offset from the last externally positioned rebar to the surface of the host.

Mesh Layers Parameters

Name Description
Fabric Type Specifies the mesh standard size type.
Longitudinal Offset Start Specifies the offset from the beginning of the longitudinal rebar to the surface of the host.
Longitudinal Offset End Specifies the offset from the end of the longitudinal bars to the surface of the host.
Transverse Offset Start Specifies the offset from the beginning of the transverse rebar to the surface of the host.
Transverse Offset End Specifies the offset from the end of the transverse rebar to the surface of the host.

Truss Layers Parameters (Girder Slabs only- available in the upcoming Structural Precast Extension for Revit 2019)

Note: When reinforcement is included in the girder slab assembly, trusses will be placed on top of the Transverse layer of rebar. Otherwise, truss rebar is placed at the bottom face and adhering to the cover reference of the host.
Name Description
Family Specifies the truss rebar family.
Family Type Specifies the truss rebar family type.
Number Only available when selected. Places a specific number of truss rebar to fill the host.
Distance Only available when selected. Places truss rebar spaced a specific distance apart to fill the host.
Max. Distance Only available when selected. Places truss rebar spaced a maximum distance apart to fill the host based on the distance between the first and last trusses.
Bar Direction Either Horizontal or Vertical. Specifies the orientation of the truss rebar in the host.
Distribution Offset Start Specifies the offset from the first truss rebar instance to the surface of the host.
Distribution Offset End Specifies the offset from the last truss rebar instance to the surface of the host.
Length Offset Start Specifies the offset from the beginning of the truss rebar to the surface of the host.
Length Offset End Specifies the offset from the end of the truss rebar to the surface of the host.
Openings Start Offset Specifies the offset of the truss rebar where it begins from an opening.
Openings End Offset Specifies the offset of the truss rebar where it begins from an opening.
Ignore Openings When selected, truss rebar will be placed through intersecting openings.
