Use the Edit Cogo Point Settings command to create and edit SHP COGO point settings.
A point setting controls (configures and interprets) how COGO or AutoCAD points are inserted into an
Autodesk Civil 3D drawing.
Point settings are contained in point settings files. A point settings file may contain one or more individual settings. You can:
- Create a new point setting in a new settings file.
- Create a new setting in an existing point settings file.
- Edit an existing point settings file, including deleting a specific point setting from the list of settings in the file.
To create a new point setting in a new point setting file
- In the Toolspace, on the Toolbox tab, expand SHP Import/Export Utilities
SHP Import/Export
Settings. Double-click Edit Cogo Point Settings to open the
Import SHP Point Settings dialog box.
- Click
to create a new point settings file.
- Click
to add a new setting.
- Name the new point setting.
- Define the values for the new setting's parameters, as needed:
You can specify one or more queries to be used to determine if the point setting should be applied to the imported point. You can also assign a specific property set to the point.
- Save the point settings file.
- If you did not name the new settings file before clicking OK to leave the dialog box, the Save Settings File dialog box is displayed, prompting you to name the settings file.
- If you save the new settings using the name for an existing file, the new settings file overwrites the existing one. To preserve the existing settings, use the Save As Point Settings option to save the settings with a different name.
SHP file selection and attributes
- Click SHP File in the Import SHP Point Settings dialog box to display the Open Shapefile Information File dialog box, and then select a shapefile to which the point settings in the current settings file will apply.
- Use the shapefile to specify attributes for the individual point settings in the current point settings file.
- Click OK to save the new file and its settings.
If you are in the process of importing SHP survey data, you may be ready to return to either the Import SHP Data Settings dialog box or the Import SHP Survey Data dialog box to complete the import process, or you can create or edit feature line settings.
