The structure catalog contains three tabs; the Current tab, the External Drawing tab and the Favorites tab.
The Current tab shows the definitions of structure components and folders in the current drawing. If the drawing contains xref components and folders, details of the source files are shown in the File References panel.
The External Drawings tab displays a hierarchy of navigational icons that you can use to access external files from your computer, network drives, and Autodesk Vault. Folders containing frequently used files can be bookmarked with the Add to Favorites right-click menu option. Later, these files can be quickly accessed from the Favorites tab.
Typical file management and organizational operations include:
This operation involves adding folders to the favorites tab and removing obsolete folders from it.
When you save a referenced file to another location or name, all external reference (xref) components in the host drawing refer to the new location/name.
This option is typically used when referenced file is moved from one location to another, and xref components in the host drawing has to be redirected to the new location.
If a referenced file is changed at the source while the host drawing is opened, a balloon window informs you that the file needs to be reloaded. You can reload the file to bring in the latest revisions to host drawing.
Although it is possible to unload a referenced file, unlike with AutoCAD, there is nothing to gain by doing so.
