You can use a polygon object as an input mesh for setting boundaries around areas of a Bifröst simulation. Use input meshes to:
Add a Kill Volume or
Clipping
mesh
- Display the appropriate tab in the
Attribute Editor:
- The main properties to use a
Kill Volume to restrict emission.
- The shape to clip the display, mesh, or
Tile View.
- In the
Attribute Editor menu, select
List, and then turn off
Auto Load Selected Attributes.
This turns off Maya's default behavior of loading attributes for selected objects. The current attributes will now remain loaded in the Attribute Editor when you select and position the polygon object.
Note: Alternatively, you can select
Copy Tab
at the bottom of the
Attribute Editor to create a copy of the Bifröst object's attributes in a floating window.
- Select and position the polygon object.
- In the Kill Volume or
Clipping attribute group, click
Use Selected.
Tip: After adding the input mesh, you can turn off the mesh's shading so it does not block your view of the simulation. To do this, in the polygon object's shape node, expand the
Display
attribute group, turn on
Enable Drawing Overrides, and then turn off
Shading.
- (Optional) Turn on
Auto Load Selected Attributes to return Maya to the default behavior.
Remove a Kill Volume or
Clipping mesh
- Display the appropriate tab in the
Attribute Editor.
- In the
Attribute Editor menu, select
List
and then turn off
Auto Load Selected Attributes.
- Press
Alt +
D to deselect all objects, and then in the Kill Volume or
Clipping attribute group of the Bifröst object's
Attribute Editor, click
Use Selected.
- (Optional) Turn on
Auto Load Selected Attributes to return Maya to the default behavior.
