Edit an existing HIK skeleton definition

To edit an existing HIK skeleton definition

  1. Load a skeleton with an existing skeleton definition.
  2. In the Character Controls (Window > Actor/Charactor Controls), click the Definition tab.
  3. In the Definiton tab toolbar, click to unlock the current skeleton definition.
    Note: Since MotionBuilder 2017, the HIK leaf roll bone system lets you map up to five roll bones per limb. If your existing skeleton definition has roll bones defined, and was created using an earlier version of MotionBuilder, unlocking the skeleton definition removes the roll bone assignment, letting you map bones using the leaf roll bone views in the Definition tab window.   4. Right-click the bone you want to map and select Change Assigned Bone.
  5. In the drop-down list that appears, select the name of another bone and click OK.
