Specify a Driving Point

In the conceptual design environment, a hosted reference point that controls the geometry of a dependent spline is a driving point.

Driving points are created automatically when you generate a line, curve, or spline from free points. When selected, driving points display 3D controls.

Driving points are created by default when you create lines with ether the Spline Through Points tool or any drawing tool with 3D Snapping selected on the Option Bar. You can then convert hosted points applied to these lines to driving points.

To specify a driving point along a spline

  1. Select a hosted point on a line, curve, or spline created by Spline by Point or 3D Snapping.
  2. On the Options Bar, click Make Point Driving.

The point is now a driving point and can modify the geometry of the spline.
